What do you do with broken glass pieces and the bottoms of wine bottles? Make them into wind chimes, of course. The bottoms of the wind chime are cut from wine bottles that I turn into hanging wine bottle candles and after puzzling over what to do with these pieces I found that they make a nice weight and focal point for the wind chime. Without it they don't make much noise. With it these make a pleasant tinkling sound.
The "s" design in the center is from recycled electrician's copper. The large hoop came from some inventory I found for a song at Safe Harbor's ReSource Warehouse. The top hoop is from a local craft store and is a split ring such as those used on key chains. The hardest part about making these, other than drilling the glass, is getting them to balance properly. It took me several attempts to get it down to a system. Here is a link to the wind chimes which can be purchased through my site. I do have a few that have cobalt glass pieces but they are not yet listed on my site.
